RetroPie Recovery Instructions
Powering off the Raspberry Pi improperly can cause corruption of the file system on the microSD card. To prevent this from causing much trouble I have saved a backup copy of the card in its working state.
Restoration file can be downloaded here: becca-pie.zip
NOTE: This will not restore game save states, favorites, or any other changes made since I first created this system.
Included files:
- becca-pie-1.0.img - The restoration image
- readme.html - This help file
- win32diskimager-1.0.0-install.exe - Installer for the image writer
Instructions:
- Extract contents of the becca-pie.zip file to a directory on your computer.
- Install Win32 Disk Imager with incuded installation file.
- Remove microSD card from Raspberry Pi; it is located in a slot on the bottom of the case at the opposite end from the USB and network ports.
- Place microSD card into a card reader (I have included a USB reader) and plug reader into the computer you installed Win32 Disk Imager on.
- Run Win32 Disk Imager.
- Click the blue folder icon and navigate to the becca-pie-1.0.img file and click Open.
- Use the dropdown menu under Device to select the drive letter assigned to the card reader (To find the drive letter open a File Explorer window to This PC and look for a device labeled boot.)
CAUTION: Be sure to select the correct device--this action will overwrite the contents of the drive selected!! - Click Write and answer Yes to the warning that pops up on screen. Wait for the write operation to finish.
- Remove microSD card from reader and re-insert it into the Raspberry Pi (the metal contacts should face toward the top of the unit).
- When you power on the Raspberry Pi it should now be in the state it was when you received it.
- The USB reader can be stored in the top of the Raspberry Pi case.
